Why Visit Playa Blanca (Lanzarote)

Playa Blanca's history stems from a modest fishing village. Today, what is Playa Blanca famous for extends to its well-preserved core around El Varadero, the old port, contrasting with modern resorts. The iconic Faro de Pechiguera, dating back to 1866, anchors its maritime heritage.

The town offers a stunning 7 km coastal promenade, ideal for leisurely strolls. When visiting Playa Blanca, discover the unspoiled Papagayo beaches, a natural reserve. Enjoy vibrant evenings at Marina Rubicón, where local musicians often perform by the waterfront.

For fresh seafood, why visit Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) is clear. Savor "pescado a la sal", fish baked in sea salt, a local specialty. Pair it with "papas arrugadas" and authentic mojo sauces. Many family-run eateries near El Varadero still prepare dishes with traditional island recipes.

Best beach holiday we've had in years

Playa Dorada is just gorgeous - soft sand, calm water, and plenty of sunbeds. The whole place is really relaxed and easy to get around. Loved every bit of it.

Lovely spot for a winter sun escape

We came in February looking for some warmth and this place delivered. The weather was brilliant, around 22 degrees most days. The marina area is really pretty for an evening stroll and there are some great little restaurants along the waterfront serving fresh fish. Not too crowded either, which made a big difference.

Great family trip, kids absolutely loved it

Came here with two kids under ten and it worked out perfectly. The beaches are calm and safe, the town itself is easy to walk around, and there is plenty to keep everyone happy. We ate at a few spots near Calle El Varadero and the food was really good - fresh grilled fish and papas arrugadas with mojo sauce, which the kids surprisingly got into. Nothing felt too stressful or rushed the whole trip.

Proper relaxing getaway

Sometimes you just need a week where you do nothing but sit in the sun and eat well. This place ticks both boxes. The Rubicon Marina is lovely for a walk in the evening and the sunsets from the promenade are something else. Food is fresh, prices are fair, and the pace is slow in the best possible way. Exactly what I needed.

Stunning scenery unlike anywhere else

The volcanic landscape around here is really dramatic and unlike anything I've seen before. We took a day trip to Timanfaya National Park and it completely blew us away. The contrast between the black lava fields and the blue sea back in town is just wild. The town itself is clean, calm, and easy to enjoy. A really special place.

Solid choice for a Christmas break

Came here over Christmas wanting sun instead of cold and it was a great call. Around 20 degrees, blue skies, and a very chilled out crowd. We tried papas arrugadas with the red and green mojo sauces at a local place near the marina and it was delicious. The beach is beautiful and never felt overcrowded even during the holiday week.
